Impresa Ambiente Award

The TClub philosophy is awarded by Impresa Ambiente

On 19 December 2007, in the course of the Impresa Ambiente prize-giving ceremony, the TClub brand of Hotelplan Italia became the first-ever operator in the tourism sector to be awarded the “Best management” prize, thanks to the constant commitment shown by this brand in creating and developing its “Environmental culture” project, carried out in collaboration with Punto 3.

The “Premio Impresa Ambiente” represents the Italian selection of European Business Awards for the Environment, set up in 1987 by the European Commission’s Directorate General for the Environment, to promote those organisations and business which make an outstanding contribution to sustainable development, respect for the environment and social responsibility.

Environmental Culture is a project stemming from a collaboration between TClub and Punto 3 and is focused on the issues of environmental impact and environmentally aware tourism, respect for nature and human populations. This award marks a great success for a brand that has been on the market for just over two years, as well as being an important recognition of its commitment to increasing client awareness of such themes as sustainable tourism. Even more gratifying is the fact that, among as many as 137 projects, this was the only one attributed to a firm operating in the tourist sector.

The objective to promote sustainable tourism in accommodation facilities often located in ecosystems that are particularly fragile and sensitive from a naturalistic viewpoint, has led the way to an evaluation and monitoring programme of the hotel facilities, the environment and the social/demographic context of the TClub host countries. Punto 3 has effected – and will continue to effect in the future – an analysis of these facilities with the aim of improving the management of environmental impacting activities, as well as supplying some basic guidelines to local operators in an attempt to reduce the consumption of resources and the production of polluting waste.

But the project also sets out to enhance travellers’ awareness and knowledge of the various destinations, both prior to departure – by means of a CD Rom handed over with the travel documents – and during their stay, with the aid of a small guide book that guests will find in their rooms, which underlines the environmental fragility of the destination and supplies a series of “eco-hints”. Furthermore, the entertainment programme, which is strictly cultural but also of sure interest and comprehensive to everyone, has been specially studied to provide more in-depth information on the natural, environmental, historical and artistic aspects of the chosen destination.
