The Lodge consists of 6 cottages, 4 of which dispose of king size beds in a spacious bedroom, a private bathroom and a small lounge area; the other 2 are lager family units with two bedrooms, one of which has a king size bed and the other two single beds, as well as a shower and bathroom. The raised position of the cottages offers the advantage of being able to observe nature from above and listen to the tide going out. All the cottages have been designed to blend intimately with their natural surroundings, and are built and fitted with natural material brought in by the tides, as part of a broad and natural acceptance of the location. Each cottage enjoys its own private view of the river and ocean, giving its inhabitants the perception of being all alone in Africa. Built in Robinson Crusoe style, the cottages are fitted with all modern conveniences: comfortable king size beds in solid wood with large cotton mosquito nets, private bathrooms with hot water showers and room service offering cool drinks. Hot water is available from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again in the morning from 6.30 to 8.00 a.m. At the guests’ disposal, there is a laundry where clothes are hand washed, dried in the sun and ironed with a coal iron, so it is advisable to avoid having delicate garments washed. In the interests of the environment, towels are changed every 2 days and sheets on the third night, but, on request, they may be changed more often. Early in the morning, tea is served with breakfast as ordered the previous evening. In each bedroom there is a chest of drawer with lock and key for the safe keeping of personal valuables.
