In the rocky landscape of the “Sassi di Matera”, in the very heart of the Sasso Caveoso and 50 metres from Piazza San Pietro, the Hotel Sant’Angelo is an admirable example of an “albergo diffuso” (a hotel spread between several buildings).
Positioned on the gently sloping hill, it is an integral part of the image of the Sassi: from here, one can enjoy the incomparable view of the Gravina ravine at a single glance.

The apartments, consisting of authentic cave dwellings carved out of the rock, are arranged like homes in a small old town, with shared stairs and communal courtyards. Only original, age-old materials have been used, such as the sand-coloured stone that often reveals fossils modelled by man.
A wonderful Bar terrace is one of the structure’s strongest points, where guests can sip cocktails at sunset and enjoy one of the most beautiful views over the Sassi in the whole city!

The Meetings Room, accessed via the communal courtyard, stands at the centre of Hotel Sant'Angelo's complex of rooms.
The small room, able to accommodate up to 30 people, is ideal for work meetings in a private and evocative environment.
The Bar Terrace is definitely one of the best spots for enjoying a moment of pure relaxation.
Sipping an aperitif or coffee in the shade of the overhanging awnings allows you to enter into harmony with the age-old site surrounding the terrace.
There is a full transfer service available for guests, using new and efficient means of transport owned by the hotel.
It is also possible to book an exclusive service with private driver.
