4th day - Tuesday ASWAN Free morning for the optional plane excursion to Abu Simbel comprising a visit to the Temples of Ramesses II and his favourite wife Nefertari. The afternoon will be dedicated to visiting the Great Dam, the huge construction which has created the 500 km long reservoir of Lake Nasser; even though it has supplied the entire country with electricity and improved irrigation systems, the construction has caused a real environmental upheaval, making it necessary to move monuments that would otherwise have been flooded by the water. Among these, the Ptolemaic complex of the Temple of Philae which, once salvaged from the lake waters, was moved 500 metres away and 30 metres higher than its original position.

5th day - Wednesday ASWAN/KOM OMBO In the morning, the boat sets sail for Kom Ombo. Afternoon landing and visit to the Temple of the Two Divinities; this Roman-Ptolemaic temple owes its name to the fact that it is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and to the god Haroeris. Each architectural element is represented twice: on the façade two entrances lead to double chambers and sanctuaries through double rows of columns. To the right of the entrance to the temple stands the remarkable little temple of Hathor, full of mummified crocodiles dedicated to the god Sobek.

6th day - Thursday KOM OMBO/ EDFU Navigation continues towards Edfu. Landing and visit to the Ptolemaic Temple dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god whose statue, still in perfect condition, dominates the courtyard in front of the pronaos. Overnight stay in the area of Edfu.

7th day - Friday EDFU/ESNA/LUXOR
Morning navigation towards Esna. Arrival and visit to the Temple dedicated to Khnum, the ram-headed god of creation. Its columns, which contribute to enhancing the aura of monumental solemnity, are of outstanding beauty. Afternoon sailing towards Luxor. Arrival in the evening.

8th day - Saturday LUXOR Morning visit to the Temple of Karnak, a large complex dedicated to the god Amun which consists in a succession of temples, statues and skilfully decorated halls and walls. Return on board and lunch. In the late afternoon, visit to the Temple of Luxor dedicated by Tuthmosis III to the Sun-god Amun-Ra, to his wife Mut and their son Khonsu; of the various obelisks decorating the temple, one was donated to Louis Philippe of France and now rises majestically in Place de la Concorde in Paris.

9th day - Sunday LUXOR Early morning visit to the Necropolis of Thebes, which reached the height of its splendour between the XVIII and the XX dynasties; in fact the pharaohs of this period started to construct the necropolis. Visit to the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir-El-Bahri and the Colossi of Memnon, the 15 metre-high stone giants which were placed there to guard the valley. Free afternoon.

10th day - Monday LUXOR/ITALY Morning transfer to the airport and departure by air for Cairo, with connecting flight to Italy.

NB: From 6 to 13 June embarkations will only be reconfirmed on reaching a minimum number of 6 participants.
