Climate Egypt is a Mediterranean location but has a semi-desert climate. From March to November the climate is hot,but also dry and windy; only Cairo is likely to be somewhat humid. From December to February, during the day, there is a mild climate, with a considerable drop in temperatures at night. In Cairo and on the Mediterranean coast, it is likely to rain in winter.Â
Documents Entry to Egypt is subject to holding a passport with a residual validity of 6 months from the return date, or a valid identity card for expatriation with a residual validity of 3 months from the return date; in the latter case it is necessary to present a duly completed form issued by the Egyptian authorities, and which will be distributed before passport control. It is also necessary to carry 2 recent passport photographs. A consular visa is still required and this may be obtained through TClub.  (The fee for assistance and visa application is €23).
Currency Legal tender in Egypt is the Egyptian pound, equivalent to about €0,14 which is divided into 100 piastres. Foreign currency may be exchanged in the banks against payment of a commission. We advise carrying bank notes that are in good condition. Credit cards are accepted in the better hotels.
Tips In Egypt, it is a good rule to tip anyone providing a service. If satisfied with the service, it is customary to tip the boat staff at the end of the cruise; in this case a reasonable gratuity would be around €40, while we would suggest a tip of about €15 for a local guide. On the other hand, a gratuity of about € 10 would be fair for transfers. TClub staff do not collect gratuities, so you are requested to hand them over directly to the interested parties.
Time zone One hour ahead of Italy, also during summer time, even though there are some variations at the beginning and end.Â
Vaccinations and health precautions No mandatory vaccinations are requested. As well as medicaments for personal use, we advise visitors to carry an intestinal disinfectant, protective cream against sunburn and to wear hats and sunglasses.
