Bed and Breakfast Looking out onto a luxuriant valley of terraced rice paddies in the green countryside of Ubud, and situated on the banks of the sacred river Campuhan, Villa Ibah was once a sacred place where people with extraordinary mediumistic powers used to go and meditate: in the Indonesian language Ibah means “giving to”. The property where the rooms are now housed was handed down through the centuries from one generation to another of the Ubud royal family. Here it is not difficult to forget the clamour of the outside world, in spite of being just a few minutes from the village of Ubud, which is the oldest place of meditation on the island of the Gods, and the island’s characteristic artistic and cultural centre.
The 15 suites, known as Villas, are set in gardens with ponds and fountains, built from traditional materials and some modern elements: pieces of traditionally constructed antique furniture stand harmoniously alongside the modern and functional styling of the bathrooms and private swimming pools. Each suite is identified by the name of a flower and is complete with a balcony enjoying a view of the green valley. Original drawings executed in ink or on glass decorate the rooms, which are also embellished by the characteristic local ceramic ware. At the restaurant or bar, surrounded by ponds with magnificent flowers floating on their surface, there is an atmosphere of intimacy. To end a delicious dinner, the “Tembako” will welcome you to taste the selection of whiskies and cigars. The hotel has a beautiful saltwater swimming pool where it is most pleasant to cool down or sunbathe. The hotel offers the use of mountain bikes and a shuttle service to the centre of Ubud to all TClub guests, at no extra charge.
The high standard of service offered is the byword of this resort, acknowledged as one of the best-known boutique hotels of Bali; here the staff will always welcome you with the smile and kindness for which the inhabitants of Bali are famous. Close to the river Tjampuhan, Villa Ibah’s spa also offers you an opportunity to try out Indonesia’s ancient therapies and massages. The «Mandara» massage, for example, is artfully executed by two therapists contemporarily, and combines numerous techniques, from shiatsu to Thai, Swedish and Balinese massage, and even Hawaiian Lomi-Lomi together with aromatherapy. There are also Jacuzzi tubs in the spa for relaxing after a thorough scrub, while enjoying some tea and local pastries.
